A beautiful Romney/Border Leicester fleece ready to prep and spin into soft lustrous wool yarn.
This enormous fleece is from Larry. The color is chocolate brown and gray with amber tips (from the sun bleaching his wool). This will spin up to a warm brown/gray.
The second picture shows the sun hitting part of the fleece so you can see the color is more brown than it appears in shadow.
We have had Larry on our farm for several years and have made many mittens, hats and scarves from his wool. My son prefers Larry's wool in its many shades of gray for his projects. He makes Viking-inspired mittens and wristlets using the ancient technique of nalbinding.
I am including a picture of yarn I spun from his previous fleeces.
